To understand why you want to remove spyware, it is important to know exactly what spyware is and what is does. Spyware is a small program that is uploaded to your computer through contact with a website. This code was originally designed to track visitors to a particular site and find out were else they went.

This information was used by the website to tailor the advertising on their site to match the type of places their customers were already going. The program has had many changes over the years since its creation, the first of which was adware. Meaning that the program was used to place ads on your computer.

This is when the program started top change into something that was more dangerous to your computer. There were some adware that was minor and you would notice them on occasion but there were some that were far more noticeable. These would place so many ads on your computer that your computer would freeze up and crash.

The next evolution in the spyware program came when it started being used to transport Trojan Horse viruses. This is when a virus is placed inside a spyware program allowing it to enter your system undetected by your anti-virus program. This could cause a great deal of damage to your computer very quickly. The final evolution to the spyware program has come with the rise of identity theft. The personal information on your computer is the most valuable thing you have on it.

The spyware will gather all your username/password combinations and well as other important account information. Then it will return this information to the person that placed the spyware there to start with. This places your entire life at risk and not just your computer, so you can see why spyware removal is very important. To find out if you have any spyware on your system you can look for system slow down but if you wait till than you will have waited way too long.

Other ways of detecting spyware is by watching the harddrive light for unusual activity when you thin!

Though reports have shown that online identity theft cases are on the rise, there isn’t a single method that will guarantee you will not end up as an identity theft victim. However, there are a number of simple steps that you can take to reduce your chances of becoming an identity theft victim. Some may seem a bit excessive but they are definitely effective in safeguarding your personal information and interest.

An identity theft victim can sometimes lose thousands of dollars and then spend thousands more trying to clear their names. It may even cause you to lose your job or land you into a criminal case. All these may occur just because you fail to protect your confidential information while making an online purchase on some fraudulent website. If you are a frequent online shopper, ensure that the online service that you are using has security protection and the site is secure. You can do this by looking out for the little lock symbol on the Internet Explorer, which is an indication that your information is being encrypted.

You may become an online identity theft victim if you fail to clear your login information on a shared computer. This is especially true if you try to login to your bank account online on a public computer that other users have access to. This kind of information can be easily captured by a computer savvy identity thief who will use them to commit fraudulent crimes. To prevent this, you should clear your history cache on your explorer every time you log off from the back account.

It is also not advisable to store your personal information on your notebook PC. These notebooks present a tantalizing target for thieves. Many people prepare their income tax returns on their computers, forgetting about the sensitive personal financial information that may be left on their hard drives. Always remove this information from your computer upon completion of your tax return to prevent ending up as an identity theft victim.

program
and keep it constantly updated. Viruses can infect your computer with spyware programs that may cause your computer to send information stored on your computer to the hacker that can facilitate identity theft. There are many identity theft victims who forget to update their anti-virus programs and result in losing all their confidential data to identity thieves.

There is another important thing you must install - a firewall on your computer. Specifically, this is a computer program that makes it more difficult for hackers to get access to your computer by preventing or selectively blocking access to your computer through the internet. Coupled with the anti-software program, the firewall will give an added level of protection against identity theft. Most identity theft victims would wish that they have learnt about these preventing steps earlier and not after the incident has happened.

Computer Security Authentication
(presented by www.spyware-remover-free.net - spyware remover)

By Kent Pinkerton

Computer security authentication means verifying the identity of a user logging onto a network. Passwords, digital certificates, smart cards and biometrics can be used to prove the identity of the user to the network. Computer security authentication includes verifying message integrity, e-mail authentication and MAC (Message Authentication Code), checking the integrity of a transmitted message. There are human authentication, challenge-response authentication, password, digital signature, IP spoofing and biometrics.

Human authentication is the verification that a person initiated the transaction, not the computer. Challenge-response authentication is an authentication method used to prove the identity of a user logging onto the network. When a user logs on, the network access server (NAS), wireless access point or authentication server creates a challenge, typically a random number sent to the client machine. The client software uses its password to encrypt the challenge through an encryption algorithm or a one-way hash function and sends the result back to the network. This is the response.

Two- factor authentication requires two independent ways to establish identity and privileges. The method of using more than one factor of authentication is also called strong authentication. This contrasts with traditional password authentication, requiring only one factor in order to gain access to a system. Password is a secret word or code used to serve as a security measure against unauthorized access to data. It is normally managed by the operating system or DBMS. However, a computer can only verify the legality of the password, not the legality of the user.

The two major applications of digital signatures are for setting up a secure connection to a website and verifying the integrity of files transmitted. IP spoofing refers to inserting the IP address of an authorized user into the transmission of an unauthorized user in order to gain illegal access to a computer system.

Biometrics !
is a mor
e secure form of authentication than typing passwords or even using smart cards that can be stolen. However, some ways have relatively high failure rates. For example, fingerprints can be captured from a water glass and fool scanners.

A number of computer security products cater to every situation and every need. A surge protector is an electrical device commonly used to protect computers and related computer components from power surges. If a surge in the voltage occurs, causing the voltage to exceed the norm, the computer equipment can be damaged.

Security cables are a very effective method to protect computers. If a desktop is secured with a lock and cable, it prevents a thief from walking off with your property and data. Various types and sizes of chain or cable locks are available. These include desktop computer security combination lock, notebook security lock, cable lock with clip, flexible cable lock and cable lock with key holder.

The wireless fingerprint mouse is used to protect the information stored in the computer. Privacy filters protect your screen from anyone looking from either side to read what is on your screen. All information is protected from unauthorized eyes. Identity tags are small effective anti theft devices. A small aluminum bar coded plate is attached to your computer, to track it in case of theft. If the tag is removed the computer is permanently marked as stolen property. Projector alarms with siren will protect the computer.

A security shield handles all the downloaded information and technical support. It is simple to begin and easy to maintain. There is no setup cost and no ongoing costs for support. The security shield offers a competitive and aggressive cost per download.

Computer security cables are used to ensure the physical security of a computer. Several types of computer security cables are available. There are black, putty and heavy duty computer high strength security cables. Computer security cables are a very effective method of preventing computer losses. A desktop or notebook secured with a lock and cable prevents a thief from walking off with your property and data.

Computer security cables are available in the market at varying prices. A unique black shell design with overlapping seams, coupled with a crimp ferrule strain relief results in both protection against leakage and enhanced mechanical strength. These features ensure a highly reliable cable that will pass the most severe emissions testing, while providing years of trouble free service. It also saves cost and adds an alternative cable entry direction.

A unique stamped steel internal enclosure offers hundred percent shielding and a strong strain relief. Cable assemblies with inline or reverse entry connector orientation can be produced with modest minimum requirements. Computer security cables give the equipment protection from theft.

Steel cables are not the most attractive cables. There are adhesive mount cables. Specially designed plates are affixed to your computer case, your monitor is safe with a strong adhesive compound and the cables are then threaded through loops in the plates and secured with a padlock. Fiber optic cables are also widely used.

Security cables can be chosen from PC security cables, laptop security cables and unique solid mounts using steel security plates with super adhesives. A variety of locking devices include case locks to protect the CPU. It is advisable to choose from computer security cables that let you add security plates to secure all your peripherals on one cable. These systems use straight end cable assembly.
