Spyware can cause some very serious problems for your computer. Almost always running, Spyware uses your computer’s resources that should be better spent on programs you are using. Spyware also sends personal information about your browsing habits to spammers.
You may think that you have no Spyware on your computer since you certainly haven’t installed it yourself. Unfortunately, Spyware usually installs itself or comes along with software that you actually do want to install. Finding it and removing it can often be difficult.
If you are downloading and installing freeware or shareware programs, there is a chance that you are unwittingly installing Spyware. Some of these programs do state the presence of Spyware in their user agreements, but not always. Think about what you’re installing, and even check online reviews from other users.
There are many indications that Spyware is installed on your computer. Some of these include but are not limited to pop-up ads when you’re not browsing the Internet, new toolbars you didn’t install, your homepage changes on its own, or your computer is unusually slow.
If you think your compute may have some Spyware installed there are several free utilities available that you can download which will find Spyware hidden on your computer and remove it. They use a constantly updated database of signature files used by Spyware and adware. The only drawback is that all Spyware files may not be found since the database is variable and somewhat subjective.
You may find that some Spyware needs to have their files removed manually. This is because Spyware installs files in multiple locations and can change existing files on your system. As you can see removal can be very difficult indeed. If you believe that your system is infected with Spyware that you can’t remove via a removal utility you may want to consult a professional since deleting the wrong files can be disastrous.
Once you have eradicated all Spyware files from your syst!
em you’l
l want to try and prevent anymore from installing themselves on your computer. Look for a removal utility that also constantly runs in the background and monitors potential Spyware being installed and alerts you. This will help keep your computer Spyware free.
