For Immediate Release

SoftoTec Company Releases SOFTOTEC BackItUp 1.6.0

Today’s subject is BackItUp, another backup solution from SOFTOTEC. We’ve already reviewed their ASIS Backup. “ASIS” operates on a very low system level that allows you to make exact backup copies of your disk volumes with all the operating systems and software installed. While this method lets you restore everything after a disk or system crash without re-installing Windows and other software, it is time-consuming and requires a re-boot to complete. You will probably not use it more often than once per month.

But, what about the documents, e-mail messages and other files that you create or receive between two complete backup sessions? They can be lost on a disk crash, virus attack, etc. You need a fast and simple backup program that you can put on a schedule to make daily backups of your folders containing important documents, pictures and e-mail messages. BackItUp is exactly the solution.

Question: What makes it so fast? Answer: Incremental mode of operation. Instead of backing up the same files files every day, it adds only files that were created or updated since the last backup session. Normally, this method speeds-up the backup process by hundreds of times. Unlike standard Windows backup utilities and some other old backup programs that offer incremental backups, BackItUp does not create separate archives containing new and updated files. It updates the same archive. So, this does not require additional space on your disk.

The program supports ZIP compression and is compatible with the 64-bit ZIP format. There is always a tradeoff between the resulting archive size and the compression speed. You can choose from several compression modes. I’d suggest that you create separate “tasks” (the program allows you to create multiple profiles called “backup tasks”) for your documents and your binary files (images, archived software, etc.) Choose the Maximum compression for your documents and the Fastest compression for the binaries.

SOFTOTEC BackItUp is available at http://softotec.com for free evaluation. The cost of registering the program is $29.95 per copy.

Hurricanes and Internet Security Issues
(presented by www.spyware-remover-free.net - spyware remover)

By Lance Winslow

Hurricanes and Internet Security Issues are something that is very much on the mind of FEMA these days and they are calling it a potentially devastating electronic disaster or even a; Cyber Katrina if you will?

How serious is this? Well consider floods in the basements of half of the agencies in Washington DC or consider flooding in NYC or Boston underground taking out major Internet Infrastructures and routing points.

We already know that when this happens chaos ensues for local businesses. Now imagine that something like this happened in Los Angeles or the Bay Area due to an Earthquake and then the next thing you know a Hurricane Storm surge and then flooding does the same thing to the Northeast? See Ya, Internet and that is the scenario that they are calling a Cyber Katrina so you can see how Hurricanes and Internet Security Issues go together?

What can we do to protect ourselves from such a disaster by Mother Nature or even a Cyber 911? Well this is something that is now concerning Department of Homeland Security these days and it is an issue that must be addressed and one we must prepare for as a nation.

Information Security Systems

The old order changeth, yielding way for the new. This adage especially holds true when you consider the latest advances in technology and the way they have changed modern business practices, and also the socio-economic fabric of countries. The Internet has made the transmission of vital information and data possible in a matter of seconds, and this has revolutionized the functioning of various organizations.

Yet these techniques have ushered in major responsibilities also. The first and foremost is to protect data against leakage. Though IT experts are on their toes devising all possible means to ensure one-hundred-percent security, hackers still manage to breach it. Sometimes, the lapses occur due to the negligence of the employees of an organization. The lapses can be either due to carelessness, or they may even be intentional. Whichever the case, it is important that the organizations should take steps to ensure that there is no breach in their security systems. There are many ways to ensure this.

First of all, before introducing a new technology, the organizations should conduct a test-run to ensure that there are no lapses when the technology is actually put into practice. The employees who would handle data transmission work should be adequately trained so that there is no negligence on their part. Also, technologies keep getting upgraded. This means that the organizations also need to ensure regular training for their employees.

People receive spam in their email boxes. These mails contain viruses that may affect the computer system or break through its security. You need to install firewalls and anti-virus systems, and keep upgrading them regularly. Anti-virus software like Norton Anti-Virus can be updated regularly, and helps to protect against these viruses. Also, avoid opening emails that seem to have come from suspicious sources. The best option is to delete them.

Back up, Ive Lost Everything
(presented by www.spyware-remover-free.net - spyware remover)

By Peter Mercer

The area of computer security most overlooked by home and small business users is the backing up of files. We regularly see distraught users who have lost everything on their computer and are desperately trying to recover hours of work such as theses, company bookkeeping, and wedding/baby/personal photos. Data recovery costs range from $100s to $1000s of dollars without any guarantee of success. For a small cost of $20 - $100 and a few minutes for installation, they could avoid the heartache and expense.

When planning for a well maintained and secure computer you should ensure you always have a separate backup of your valuable files. You then have immediate access to them should your computer be attacked or the files lost or damaged.

Some of the ways your files can be lost/damaged are:
